OTHER WORKS
IN LODZ
The “Dwa Piętra” (Two Storeys) Festival is based on a thoughtful genre diversity of musical events, in which the historical and cultural context of the festival space is important, and a wide dissemination of the event in order to include the audience beyond any barriers. The aim of the project is to create a platform for dialogue between artists and participants within a diverse concert programme as well as workshops in the form of educational and artistic events for children, young people and adults.
The first edition of the festival took place from 15 - 17 November 2019. The festival programme consisted of 3 genre sections - alternative, classical and avant-garde music. The artists played were: Joanna Duda - a Polish musical and visual artist, the band RASP Lovers playing music from their debut album, 'Romantic Alternative Schizophrenic Punk', two piano trios by Dmitri Shostakovich played by the trio Bartosz Skibiński and Michal Bak Quartetto, and the Danish duo Tyge Jessen/Hein Westgaard and the band Franciszek Pospieszalski Sextet. As part of the educational-artistic block, children participated in workshops with the performers of the music programme and, on the opening day of the festival, young journalists held a press conference with the artists and festival organisers.
The festival takes place in the residence of Karol Kretschmer at 5 6 Sierpnia Street in Łódź - at the headquarters of the Action Foundation and the Storeroom. The artistic director is Marcel Balinski.
